Studio Update, June 2025

It’s been a while.

Hello friends! It has been almost FIVE YEARS since I last sent an email newsletter, and, frankly, I think it’s time I was back in touch. 2025 has been busy and there are really great things coming soon and I want you to be the first to hear about them.

If you’re receiving this, that means you signed up to receive emails, we’ve interacted via email about my work, or you purchased something from me in the past few years.

And while I post fairly regularly on Instagram and Bluesky, there is something about email newsletters that I enjoy: thoughtful reminders about events, longer reads than you get on social media, and general musings about what’s happening in the studio.

So I’m starting them up again! Expect one or three emails a month, and please, share this and help people find me and my work. Thank you!

What’s Been Happening?

Waffle House Vistas exhibition at the GMA

EXHIBITIONS

I wrapped up a year-long exhibition at the Georgia Museum of Art in June.

The exhibition included five photographs from Waffle House Vistas and a commissioned video piece. A huge thank you to everyone at the GMA who treated this project with respect and supported the show in incredible ways!

One of the things I’ve learned over the past year or so is that despite the second edition of WHV being published in late 2022, there are still plenty of people who are just now finding out about this project.

Thanks to you and your support, it continues to grow and remain relevant.

I’ll talk about my process in a future newsletter, but here is an image of my studio walls.

This is how I sequence and pace my work - this cloud of 8x10 prints (read left to right) becomes a tight sequence of one image after another. Narrative is important for this next book. Your narrative with the place, the narrative of the place itself and what it enables, and the narrative of those in the photographs having experiences.

Like I said, really great things are coming soon…
